DARPA One-way phrase Translation System (PTS) for USCG INS Evaluation

The DARPA One-way PTS  was developed for use and evaluation by USCG personnel conducting INS boardings and inspections.  The delivered systems consist of PTS software, and the McSpeak custom microphone/speaker developed for use with the DARPA One-way PTS.  It has approximately 350 phrases and expressions useful for boardings translated into Spanish and Mandarin. If needed, Cantonese will be provided at a later date.   ThePTS  User Guide, provides instructions for PTS software installation and use.

Each selected U.S. Coast Guard unit will evaluate the effectiveness of the One-Way Phrase Translation System (PTS) for a six-month period through 30 September 2000. After each event the PTS will be evaluated in eight areas using the provided Evaluation Sheet.   Copies of the completed surveys can be mailed or faxed to G-OPL-2 at (202) 267-4082. G-OPL-2 point of contact is LCDR Kris Furtney at (202) 305-8146.
